Continuing Education and Continuing Professional
Development
South-east Scotland is well-known for the high quality of continuing education
programmes. The majority of these are run by NHS Education for Scotland and
take place in the Edinburgh Postgraduate Institute where the facilities are
excellent.
In addition to the high-quality seminar and lecture rooms, the Kavo-equipped
Clinical Skills Laboratory provides the ideal environment in which to rehearse
new clinical skills or to review more traditional ones.
There is a comprehensive programme of
Section
63 funded activity which is
developed in response to the needs of the local practitioners. Details of
these programmes can be requested from Mrs. Margaret Blair, NHS Education
for Scotland, whose details can be found under 'Contact Details' to
the right.
PRIVATELY-FUNDED CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Postgraduate Institute recognises that practitioners are interested particularly
in small group, hands-on teaching. There is a programme of such privately-funded,
restricted attendance courses for between 4 and 8 dentists, where detailed
individual teaching is available. A list of these courses may be obtained
from Mrs. Donna partridge, University of Edinburgh, whose details can
be found under 'Contact Details' to
the right.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
FOR THE PROFESSIONS COMPLEMENTARY TO DENTISTRY
