The research of EPDI is focused into four main areas:
- Biomaterials Science
- Oral cancer
- Mechanical aspects of the performance of dental materials
- The workings of the dental team
There are close research links with the wider university and the
Department of Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University,
Edinburgh
Research is a part of all Masters Degrees at the Institute,
however opportunities are available for those wishing to pursue a
formal research degree such as an M.Phil or PhD Degree of the
